Co-op Cast Episode 2

Greg and I have a quick chat about Deadspace, Flower the wind simulator, and gaming on the cheap with Fracture.  We also give our impressions on Street Fighter IV, the new patch for Burnout Paradise, and some of our anticipated games. We also take the time to scold Activision for suing EA.

War Is Loud

So, Killzone 2 demo is out.  Everyone and their brother has commented on the game by now – praising its graphics, campaign, multi-player, etc.  From the demo, the graphics ARE fantastic and what little you get to play of the campaign mode is really fun.  But there’s one aspect of the game that I feel actually isn’t getting the attention it deserves:  the sound.

Judging by the demo, this game has some of the best sound I’ve heard in a video game period.  Yes, I’ve played Dead Space and Bioshock, and yes, they both sound fantastic.  But Killzone 2 absolutely blew me away – the ambiant sounds of war are very well done in full surround sound, with fellow soldiers shouting behind you, explosions going off all around, etc.

So when you play that demo, after you drool over the graphics make sure you turn the volume up.  And if you don’t have a surround sound system yet, this may be your excuse to upgrade.
